The Sebring Blue Streaks are back on top in the district. A season after falling in the title game, Sebring made its way back there this year and then stormed its way to the 5A-7 championship with a 10-0 shutout over the Gateway Panthers. The Blue Streaks improve to 19-5 and celebrate their fourth district title, while also earning a berth into the state regional playoffs.
The Blue Streaks have now won four straight games to carry some momentum into the playoffs. They have also out-scored their opposition 28-4 in those games, and they did not allow any runs in both district playoff games.
Calvin Arjona picked up the complete-game shutout win on the mound. The sophomore allowed just one hit and two walks over five scoreless frames, and he recorded seven strikeouts.
Sebring scored in every inning to pull away to victory. Zach Huret walked with two outs in the bottom of the first, and Dawsyn West drove him in with an RBI double to left. Parker Griebel then followed that with a two-RBI double in the second that drove in Cole Love and Ricky Perez. Trey Holman also got in on the action by going 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs, and Arjona went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
