Another contender has entered the contest.
The Jesuit Tigers secured another district championship with a 7-0 win over the Countryside Cougars on Thursday night. Beyond the normal celebration over their sixth straight district trophy, the most important part is that the Tigers have secured a berth into the state playoffs once again. A team that nobody wants to face, one that is a contender for the state title, has again positioned itself for another playoff run.
Jesuit (21-5) posted its third consecutive shutout victory, while winning its sixth straight game. The Tigers have gone undefeated in the month of April, building exactly the momentum they hope for heading into the state playoffs.

Wilson Anderson delivered a dominant start to earn the victory. The senior posted five scoreless innings while racking up a dozen strikeouts without issuing any walks, limiting the Cougars (14-11) to only a pair of hits. He also added a three-run home run in the bottom of the third inning to contribute just as much at the plate.
The Tigers pounced for the deciding run right away in the bottom of the first inning. Ben Burke led off with a walk, advanced off a wild pitch and then raced home to score thanks to an RBI double off the bat of Griffin Boesen. Boesen was 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, a walk and a run on the day.
Senior infielder Christian Sheffield also had a big showing to chip in at the plate. Sheffield went 2-for-3 with a triple, and also scored twice.
