Calvary Christian Threepeats As District Champions
The Calvary Christian Warriors are geared up and ready to defend last year’s state title.
Behind another dominant pitching performance on Thursday night, the Warriors checked off an important first box by winning the District 3A-6 championship with a 3-0 shutout over the Clearwater Central Catholic Marauders. It is the third straight district championship for the Warriors (24-4).
Grayson Gibson took care of business on the mound to earn Calvary’s fourth straight shutout and ninth overall shutout of the season. The junior left-hander struck out eight over seven scoreless innings, allowing a hit and a run.
The Warriors made the most of their seven hits. Carson Brady, Jace Kohler and Darian Collins were all 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Andrew Tess was 1-for-2 with a double, and he also reached on a fielder’s choice and a walk, and scored twice.
