East Bay’s Zoeller Wins Pitching Duel Over Lennard’s Nunez
East Bay’s Peyton Zoeller went the distance for the complete-game, 1-0 walk-off shutout over the Lennard Longhorns on Saturday morning. Zoeller battled in a true pitcher’s duel with the Longhorns’ Yazael Nunez, as both hurler’s went the distance.
Zoeller struck out 11 while allowing five hits and one walk. He also scored the only run of the contest, walking off to victory thanks to an RBI single from Noah Medina with two outs in the bottom of the seventh.
Hits were just as tough to come by against Nunez, who surrendered just two hits and three walks while recording five strikeouts. Nunez also led the way on offense, going 2-for-3 on the day.
Jorge Collado had the only other hit for the Indians (4-10), while Victor Schilling, Danny Izquierdo and Andrew Morales each had a base hit for the Longhorns (8-9).
