Pinellas Park Upsets Osceola Behind Two-Run Home Run
The Pinellas Park Patriots traveled the short distance to face the Osceola Warriors Thursday night. The Patriots came in as the underdog against the Warriors, who rank as the #15 team in the Tampa Bay Power Rankings, but a two-run home run from Kenny Brush propelled the Patriots to a 2-1 victory.
The Patriots jumped out to the early lead in the top of the first inning. Kenny Brush came to the plate with one on and two outs and sent the first pitch he saw over the center field wall for a two-run home run. Brett Shavers came around to score from first to give the Patriots the 2-0 lead.
Two runs was all Triston Allen needed as he took to the mound for Pinellas Park (11-10). Allen delivered a great game on the mound, going seven innings, giving up one run on five hits and a walk, while striking out seven. He threw 94 pitches in the victory.
The Warriors (16-6) scored their only run of the game in the bottom of the third inning. After Austin Keene led the inning off with a base hit, he came around to score later in the inning on a sacrifice from Chase Achuff. Keene added another base hit in the fifth but that was all for the Warriors offense on the night.
Jeremy Adams started the game for the Warriors and was very strong over five innings. After allowing the two-run shot to Brush in the first, he settled down nicely to strike out nine batters and walk none. Corey Iverson threw 23 pitches over the final two innings, allowing no runs and no hits and striking out four.
