Out-Of-Door Academy Falls Short Against Canterbury
Sam Keating pitched a one-hitter, striking out five and walking two on Thursday to lead Canterbury to a 2-0 win over Out-of-Door Academy in a 3A regional semifinal. The Cougars (28-1) advance to a regional final Tuesday at Northside Christian.
Canterbury is riding a 12-game winning streak and hasn’t lost since March 28th.
The Cougars broke a scoreless tie with a run in the bottom of the fourth. After a strikeout to open the inning, Tyler Shuck walked and Michael Matter singled. Giovanny Lorenzo walked, and then Cooper Swanson reached on an error that allowed pinch-runner Alec Babb to score. Two flyouts ended the inning.
The Cougars got another run in the sixth. Matter singled to lead off the inning, and Lorenzo reached on an error before Swanson’s sacrifice fly allowed Matter to score. Matter finished 2-for-3 with a run. Carter Smith had the only other hit for Canterbury.
Max Munroe pitched six innings, striking out three and allowing three hits. He also had the lone hit for the Thunder.
Out-of-Door Academy, which had two losses to end the season, finishes 20-7.
