Berkeley Prep Tops Tampa Prep To Move On
Berkeley Prep’s Casey Keller outdueled Tampa Prep’s Zach Brodsky, as the Buccaneers won 2-0 on Wednesday in a 4A-4 semifinal. Berkeley Prep (17-6) moves on to take on Tampa Catholic (12-13) in Friday’s championship.
Keller struck out 11, allowed one hit and walked two to pace the Buccaneers. They rebounded from a regular-season finale loss to Hillsborough that had snapped their five-game winning streak.
Brodsky pitched a complete game as well, striking out two while allowing seven hits and walking four.
Keller also made a big contribution at the plate in the tight ballgame, hitting a home run on the first pitch of the bottom of the second.
Berkeley Prep made it 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth. Tyler Fagler walked and went to second on Casey Keller’s sacrifice. Michael Hill followed with a single to score Fagler.
Dylan Brown went 2-for-3, and Spencer Myers, Jakob Hines and Khalib Bayona also had hits for the Buccaneers.
Landon Schabes had the lone hit for Tampa Prep.
