Tampa Prep Pitches Past Clearwater Catholic In 4A-4 Bout
The Clearwater Catholic Marauders hosted the Tampa Prep Terrapins Tuesday night in a 4A-4 match-up. The Marauders ran into some hot pitching and their bats went quiet against the Terrapins as they fall 4-1 in district play.
Zach Brodsky went the distance for the Terrapins (6-7, 3-5), who snapped a two-game losing streak with the victory. Brodsky threw 91 pitches over the seven innings, allowing just four hits and one run. The win is Brodsky’s first of the season.
Back-to-back two-run innings in the fourth and fifth was enough offense for the Terrapins on the night. Luis Medina got things going in the third with a solo shot to left field to lead off the inning and give the Terrapins a 1-0 lead. Outfielder Landon Schabes came around to score the second run of the inning on a Johnny Corning single to right. Schabes added to the lead in the fifth when he sent a 2-0 pitch over the third baseman and into left field for a double that scored Girardo Miranda-Rivera and Holden Bridge to give the Terrapins a four-run lead.
The Marauders (5-8, 1-4) were quiet at the plate for most of the night against the Terrapins. Brodsky’s only blemish against the Marauders came in the bottom half of the fifth on a Jake Troyer sacrifice fly that scored Luca Tresh from third. The Marauders only managed one more base runner after that and that was in the form of a hit batter. The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for the Marauders.
