Northeast Comes From Behind To Beat Tennessee Christian
The Christian Academy Warriors traveled from Knoxville, Tennessee to square off with the Northeast Vikings Tuesday. The Warriors took the early lead, but the Vikings rallied in the middle innings for the 5-4 win at home.
The Warriors got the scoring started in the first when Caleb Caldwell scored from third on a base hit from Hudson Chastain. In the third, Caldwell added another base hit and run to help his team jump out to a 4-0 lead.
The Vikings (10-3) came in winners of four of their last five games but found themselves with a four-run deficit early. In the bottom half of the third, with two men on, Jake Hale doubled to center field to score Cameron Cooper to get the Vikings on the scoreboard. A sacrifice fly from Will Condon cut the Warriors lead in half heading into the fourth inning.
After coming into relief in the third inning, Lucas Smith returned to the mound for the Warriors to start the fourth. Smith continued to slow down the Warriors hitters, to keep his team in the game. After allowing the lead off man to reach base, Smith put the ball in play and allowed his defense to get three consecutive outs.
The Vikings Kobe Hartley scored in the third to pull to within one and the then the Vikings tied the game on another Cooper run scored on an error by the Warriors. Hale scored the go-ahead run later in the inning on another error by the Warriors.
Bryce Attaway and Ryan Quinlivan combined to pitch the sixth and seventh inning for the Vikings to help secure the victory. Together, Attaway and Quinlivan pitched two innings, allowing just one hit and no walks on 21 pitches.
