East Lake Earns Big Road Win At Jesuit
The East Lake Eagles jumped out to an early lead against the Jesuit Tigers on the road Tuesday and held on late for the 6-3 victory in non-district play.
The Eagles (8-4) took an early 2-0 lead in the first on a two-run home run to left field from Kevin Lambert that scored Jakob Sessa. With his team up 3-1 Lambert added another RBI in the second that scored JJ Yergey to give them a three-run lead.
Although they managed seven hits, the Tigers (12-2) were unable to make the most of their opportunities. Their first run of the game came in the first when McGuire Weaver scored on a base hit from Hunter Tubbs. The Tigers were held scoreless until the sixth and in the meantime surrendered two more runs to fall behind 6-1. They were able to add one run each in the sixth and seventh but it was not enough as the Tigers lost their second home game, and are now 1-2 in their last three at Paul Straub Field.
Christian James started the game for the Eagles and nearly went the distance in picking up the victory. James went got all but the final out and threw 116 pitches in the process. He surrendered seven hits but only three runs, two of which were earned. He struck out 10 Tigers during his outing, walking only four.
Luis Duran came into the game for the final out and struck out the only batter he faced in four pitches to pick up the save and secure the victory for the Eagles, their second in the row.
