Highlights, Scores and Recaps for Tuesday, February 23rd, 2016

Tyler Edling drove in the go-ahead run to give Mitchell the lead in the ninth inning, and the undefeated Mustangs hung on to beat winless Wiregrass Ranch 4-0 on Tuesday. Jakob Mattos was hit by a pitch to get on base to lead off the ninth. He then stole second before Kyle Frick got on with an error. Tyler Edling blasted a line-drive single to left to score Mattos for the first run of the game. Kamren Powers got on with an error that allowed Frick and pinch-runner Dalton Brooks to score. Derick Stager’s sacrifice brought in Powers for the final run. Travis Edling recorded the win for Mitchell. He pitched one shutout inning, struck out one, walked none and gave up one hit.

Adam Weekley scored on an error in the top of the eighth inning to put Jesuit ahead, and the Tigers held on for a 4-3 win over Robinson in a 6A-8 game. With Robinson clinging to a 1-0 lead, Jesuit scored three in the top of the fifth to go ahead. Braxton Rupp singled in Steven Lugo, and Hunter Tubbs brought in Nico Baldor with a single of his own to put Jesuit up 2-1. With the bases loaded, Garrett Sheppard was hit by a pitch to score Thomas Bencivenga. Aaron Scott’s double scored Mitchell Tozian and Zach Mosely to tie it up for Robinson.

Lakewood Ranch scored twice in the bottom of the third to rally past Palmetto 2-1 in an 8A-8 game. Pablo Garabitos earned the win.
