2A-5 Quarterfinal Round Up
Favorites reigned supreme in 2A-5 on Monday, as the higher seeds won convincingly in a trio of quarterfinals to advance into semifinal action on Tuesday.
David Santiago came a triple short of hitting for the cycle to lead Bayshore Christian past Victory Christian 14-1. The Faith Warriors (10-8) pounded out 13 hits total, including the 3-for-4 performance from David Santiago. The leadoff hitter capped his big day with a grand slam home run and finished with seven RBIs and three runs. Justin Santiago delivered a complete-game pitching performance, limiting the Storm (3-12) to one earned run on two hits and two walks while striking out six.
Bayshore Christian will host Seven River Christian, after the third-seeded Warriors cruised to a 15-0 win over Hernando Christian. Tristan Valerio paced an explosive offensive performance by going 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs, and 11 different players scored for Seven Rivers. Carson Pillsbury earned the complete-game shutout victory, while allowing two hits and two walks and striking out eight.
Top-seeded Keswick Christian found plenty of offense to race to an 18-1 decision over Lakeside Christian. With contributions from every batter in the lineup, the Crusaders (18-4) scored in every inning to advance to the semifinal round. Starter Nick Boesch earned the win on the mound and also led the hitters by going 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs. Will Killpatrick had a triple and three RBIs and Nathan Leuthold was 1-for-2 with three runs and two RBIs.
